As usual starting off with recently watched footage...
CMLL GdR 4/3/10:
Guerrero Maya Jr./Metalico/Tony Rivera vs Apocalipsis/Artillero/Ramstein: Holy CMLL 2003 undercards! Well aside from that Guerrero Maya fella. I enjoyed this although I may be biased since I'm a mark for the missing in action rudos. There were some communication issues with GMJr and Ramstein during their exchange but I won't fault them since they've probably never worked together before. (and will likely never again) I hope Metalico doesn't watch his matches b/c the announcers are always bringing up his injury from Pachuca where his skull got split open. Not something I'd want to be reminded of constantly. Weekend match of the week.
Brazo De Plata/Mascara Dorada/Stuka Jr. vs Okumura/Taichi/Skandalo: Where do I go to start one of those online petition deals? We must make Dorada keep wearing those snazzy gloves! He was his usual fun self here and Stuka was alright too. Taichi is making me really sad that he'll be around for another 3 or 4 months. I think CMLL has already decided he's awful and will just keep him in the Ohara role so don't expect any year-ending hair matches against Shocker or Los Renegados.
CMLL LATV 4/3/09:
Bracito De Oro/Electrico/Astral vs Pequeno Warrior/Pequeno Violencia/Pierrothito: This was a bunch of nothing. Bracito De Oro is so awful. He has NO OFFENSE. Seriously. We joke around often about Toscano having no offense but he at least has:
1. A suplex.
2. An armdrag.
3. A roll-up.
Bracito De Oro has:
1. A belly-bump.
2. A sitdown splash.
That's it. Kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinda hard to put a match together when he can only do 2 spots. So I can't fault Warrior for having nothing to work with. I will be mega-pissed if this feud doesn't end in a mask match b/c it will mean we've sat through all these Bracito matches for no reason at all and will have to do it again at some point in the future. The dives by Astral/Electrico at the end were neat but they did nothing else.
Valiente/Sagrado/Metro vs Poder Mexica: These type of matches bother me. If it were done on a big show they'd have worked each fall like the third fall. But since it's just a regular Arena Mexico show and this match is in the especial position... they barely broke a sweat in the first two falls and instead saved it up for a big third fall. ANNOYING. At least the rudos are showing lots of great teamwork and the crowd is solidly getting behind them. I loved the finishing sequence. Dragon Rojo out of nowhere with the dropkick! YAY! Second best match of the weekend shows.
CMLL @ Arena Puebla - 11/23/09:
I only skipped forward to watch this b/c Fredo (WWW.SLAMBAMJAM.COM!) never got it. I'm going to trade it to him for the 160 DVD's I want.
Asturiano/King Jaguar vs Ares/Sauron: Pretty good one-fall opener. Each guy was working hard and the rudos showed off some neat double teaming at various points. Asturiano did his usual two crazy dives and King Jaguar almost chickened out of his but eventually got the guts to do a somersault over the ringpost. Tecs won by countout. Can't go wrong starting the show like this. Another reason I'd air the Friday night opener every week on Galavision. May not be the best match but will at least have a couple of holy shit spots which is how you want to open up a TV show rather than with Toscano vs Efesto.
Diamante/Guerrero Maya Jr./Lestat vs Artillero/Super Comando/Aguila Guerrera: Awesome match! All three tecnicos were on fire and hit a bunch of really difficult spots flawlessly. The rudos were bumping all over the building. Really couldn't ask for anything better. Dual asai moonsaults to nowhere on a Puebla show? You gotta be kidding me! Diamante must have steel knees.
Mascarita Dorada/Shockercito/Electrico vs Pequeno Damian/Pequeno Nitro/Pequeno Warrior: Okay match but clearly not the best they can do. Shockercito was toning it down big time and Dorada seemed to hurt his shoulder on his satellite headscissors spot. Both Electrico and Peq Nitro keep winning me over more and more though.
Blue Panther/Brazo De Plata/Maximo vs Atlantis/Negro Casas/Ultimo Guerrero: This was edited to finishes only pretty much. I'm okay with that. More than okay actually.
La Sombra/Mascara Dorada/Volador Jr. vs Averno/Mephisto/Efesto: Only two falls but established exactly it was supposed to - Volador got two surprise roll-up pins on Averno and challenged him to a title match the following week. In between the pins you got a lot of rudo brawling and some neat spots from Sombra and Dorada so that works for me.
Very good show.
Now onto analyzing the lineups for the week... (credit to cubsfan.com/cmll of course)
CMLL (TUE) 04/06 Arena Mexico
1) Camaleón & Robin vs Cholo & Mortiz
- I can totally see Camaleon being dumb enough to take the Spanish Fly to the floor spot, hence why he is booked here. Mortiz better come up with some new stuff though b/c he's gonna run out of opponents at this rate.
2) Eléctrico, Pequeño Olímpico, Último Dragoncito vs Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito
- Excellent combination here that should provide for a good match. Not sure if it'll make air as usually when title matches take place only three matches air. I wonder if there is a feud going on here that we missed though. I didn't catch all of C3 on Saturday but the minis match definitely only went two falls and Peq Olimpico/Peq Damian were having issues.
3) Delta, Fuego, Rush vs Cancerbero, Raziel, Virus
- One of these six does not belong! Let's just hope Rush can manage to keep his shoulder in it's socket. I'm excited to see Delta against any of those rudos to be quite honest. Hopefully he learns from the mistakes of Rey Cometa and takes it easy with his new big spot. You don't need to bust it out every time you wrestle. Save it up for the big pop!
4) Máscara Dorada, Metro, Stuka Jr. vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca [MEX TRIOS]
- I have a strange feeling that after this match is over Metro will be the only tecnico left without a title. POP QUIZ: NAME THE OTHER BELTS! HA! I WIN! Rudos should take this but then again I also said the Wings should have beaten the Flyers this afternoon. I just can't see why we'd go to all the trouble of putting together a rematch only to beat the rudos cleanly AGAIN. Especially now that they have tons of momentum after teaming and winning for a few weeks now.
5) La Sombra, Sagrado, Toscano vs Místico, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero
- Not sure if this fits the storyline with Mistico but it's a promising looking match on paper. Although ideally this would be best with Mistico in Toscano's spot and Toscano in Mistico's spot. Except not 2010 Toscano. 2003 Toscano version GDI. Now there's a match! I got a strange feeling this will end up being really better than expected since the crowd will be hot following the previous match. Mistico will probably get turned on.
CMLL (FRI) 04/09 Arena Mexico
1) Astro Boy & Trueno vs Camorra & Inquisidor
- It's so plain that I literally have nothing to say about it.
2) Ángel Azteca Jr., Ángel de Oro, Ángel de Plata vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Pólvora
- These teams had a pretty good match on C3 this weekend (minus Polvora, plus Arkangel) so I expect that was just a warm-up to this match. Tecnicos will unleash their amazing triple dive spot and rudos will win just like they did on C3. Hate to say it b/c it eliminates my favorite guy from the match but this would be much more interesting as Angel De Oro/Plata vs Euforia/Nosferatu. Just to shake things up.
3) Valiente vs Sangre Azteca [lightning]
- Who's gonna break it to Cubs that this probably won't air on LATV? Not me! Hopefully these guys get more than the 5 minutes Fuego/Polvora were given. I would totally not be opposed to a screwy ending to setup a revancha two weeks from now. It'd be fresh and nobody would complain seeing these two face each other twice in a row.
4) Blue Panther, Stuka Jr., Toscano vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
- Is this Stuka's reward for losing the title on Tuesday? Pretty high up for him or at least high as in he's working with wrestlers he doesn't normally get to work with. Hopefully he delivers a strong performance and hopefully Toscano just stays out of the way.
5) Héctor Garza, Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara vs Terrible, Texano Jr., Vangelis
- Setting up a future trios titles match? Seems like it. I'm hoping Garza doesn't turn rudo only b/c if he does he'll eventually have to recruit new members for Los Angeles Rebeldes and we've still yet to figure out who the original members are!
6) La Sombra, Máscara Dorada, Místico vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Felino, Negro Casas
- The intrigue continues! Will Mistico and Sombra get along? Will Dorada and Mistico get along? Will Felino start a new feud with Dorada or continue his recent feud with Sombra? So many questions. I'm kinda hoping they work this straight for at least a bit since I want to see what Sombra/Rojo do together in such a high profile match. Probably won't happen though.
I think it'd be really neat if out of this show we got Mistico vs Dorada and a trios titles match for the 16th.
CMLL (SUN) 04/11 Arena Coliseo
1) Bengala & Principe vs Disturbio & Semental
- Now there's a rudo team!
2) Fabián el Gitano, Molotov, Sensei vs Dr. X, Puma King, Tiger Kid
- So it seems like there is a cage match coming up and all six of these guys seem like natural participants. Now we could be thinking in the wrong direction here. Perhaps all these mask challenges with the undercarders lately have been common practice except we're only hearing about them now thanks to live updates from CMLL Magazine's twitter. Perhaps ESTO and Ovaciones just ignored these challenges in the past which is why we never heard about them and thus think this is special. Of course there have been lots of mask removals lately which leads me to believe there is a cage match upcoming. If I had to guess the participants: Fabian, Molotov, Sensei, Starman, Astro Boy, Dr. X, Bronco, Puma King, Tiger Kid, Apocalipsis/Durango Kid? 10 men sounds about right. Somehow that lineup seems even weaker than the original undercarders cage match they did months back where Tiger Blanco lost.
3) Lady Apache, Lluvia, Marcela vs Amapola, La Comandante, Princesa Sujei
- Oh joy.
4) Blue Panther, Sagrado, Toscano vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca
- Will the rudos show up with their new belts? I'd bet on it.
5) Brazo de Plata, Héctor Garza, Strong Man vs Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero
- Strong Man is back AND a womens tercera? OH HAPPY DAYS! WHEN WILL YOU RETURN?

3 Comments:
Toscano also has a missile dropkick!
Valiente/Sangre is totally going to air on LATV. 2/3 is almost always on LATV, the lightning match just moves around from 3 to 4 depending on if CMLL wants to air on the main show.
You're setting yourself up for disappointment my friend. The last 4 Lightning Matches have all aired on the main show with the Bracito/Peq Warrior one being repeated on LATV.
If you trade the Puebla tape to Fredo for 160 dvd's, will you at least get me the three Ultimonito tapes that I never got around to buying as part of the deal?
