Quick AAA TV Comments from 4/9/05 - 5/21/05 (Galavision U.S.):

4/9 - Footage from the 2004 Japan tour. Don't know why everyone thought it was from the 2005 tour since the rosters were completely different.

4/16 - The opening trios match with the locals wasn't anything special. I doubt they knew they'd be making TV or they might have worked harder. Or maybe they just all suck... either way. The following tag match with the locals was much better and had some nice moves and dives. There is nothing wrong with seeing locals wrestle as everyone has to start somewhere. I remember a young Ultimo Guerrero working AAA TV in '94 and most people would have shit on him then but look at him today.Smile The women's match was awful. The main event cage match had some good stuff and some bad stuff. Who is Tokyo Viper? However overall I'd have to say I hated this show only b/c I can now say the following sentence... Kaiser, Piolin, Spawn, Reno, Manimal, Junior Kiss, Disturbo Negro and Black Finder have all had more TV time than Ramstein, Super Comando, Zeta, Messala, Caligula, Ultimo Vampiro, Valiente and Jeque, just to name a few. That... is... so... very... sad. I'm happy recent CMLL TV has been showing the terceras from Arena Coliseo on occasion but it wouldn't kill to maybe once a month show an opening match from Arena Mexico or a segunda from Arena Coliseo. Surely their guys would put on a better performance than the ones that made AAA TV this week.

4/23 - The Reina De Reinas battle royale was a waste of time except to look at some hot chicks. But it was so chaotic, it was hard to focus on the pretty ones. I fast forwarded through the entire Exoticos cage match. I'm sure I missed a classic but I'll live. Lady Apache vs Tiffany was disapointing. Not that I enjoy watching women's wrestling in the first place but I expected more since it was their biggest match of the year. Thankfully the show got saved by the Barrios vs Black Family match from Japan. IN-FUCKING-SANE! 10 minutes of non-stop awesome spots. By the 7 minute mark I was wondering how these guys were still going at such a fast pace b/c even if they were in tip-top shape, that's a lot of hard spots to remember and pull off. Everyone should see this at some point but wait for it to be a comp. or something b/c the rest of the show will burn your eyes out. Billy Boy's assisted frankensteiner off the skateboard to the floor was PSYCHO!

4/30 - Kumbias vs Vatos opened up. I had already seen it so I just fast forwarded to rewatch some spots. Still can't believe the cameras missed Mosco's asai moonsault into an armdrag on the floor. If Mistico didn't exist that would be my spot of the year. Parka/Gronda/Lover vs Abismo/Chessman/Tinieblas Jr. was acceptable wrestling. Gronda is awful but the rudos made him look like a million bucks. In fact, I'm quite shocked at how good Tinieblas Jr. is as a rudo. Why the hell did we have to endure 14 years of him as an awful tecnico till now? I actually look forward to Tinieblas Jr. matches now! Chessman ruled it as well but you all knew that. Some awful six man tag followed which had Diluvio Negro I and Mongol Chino involved. 15 minutes or so of awful brawling. What a waste of my life. Main event was the man/woman/mini/tranny mixed tag from Japan. Mascarita 2000 was on FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFIRE! Some fucking incredible spots by him in this one and the crowd really loved him. He should be a regular for Hustle or Z-1 Max. Nobody else really stood out here... it was much slower than the usual AAA version of this match.

5/7 - Oh shit, time to add my sentence above. Kaiser, Piolin, Spawn, Reno, Manimal, Junior Kiss, Disturbo Negro, Black Finder, DRABEK, DANCE BOY, LUZBEL, PONY, MUERTE FANTASTICA and FUEGO LATINO have all had more TV time than Ramstein, Super Comando, Zeta, Messala, Caligula, Ultimo Vampiro, Valiente and Jeque, just to name a few. DANCE BOY! FUCKING DANCE BOY ON TV! It hurts my head. Of course, I enjoyed the opening trios local match big time. They did some nice moves, the rudos played their role perfect and then they went home with a dive sequence capped off with Fuego Latino pumping up the crowd big time for a huge dive... and proceeding to trip on the top rope and plummet face first onto the ring apron. I remember the days when more of these aired on TV so this brought back happy memories.Smile Octcito vs Mascarita 2000 vs Mini Abismo vs Mini Psic was a pretty enjoyable match. First time we've gotten to see Octcito and Mascarita 2000 go at it even if it was for just a short exchange. The ending of the match was great with Mascarita taking charge and beating up the two rudos on his own till big Psicosis had to inferfere. Shame I heard the mask match blew b/c this seemed like great buildup to it. Another awesome Barrios/Black Family match aired. Not as highspoterific as the Japan match but better than most CMLL matches that get heavy pimping. Won't even describe some of the awesome exchanges and moves, you just gotta see it and enjoy it. The finish was awesome as Manson, Haytor and Aguila came out with chairs and smacked the Barrios as they went for triple tope suicidas. It would have been better had the camera missed the rudos running down to ringside b/c then the chairshots really would have came from out of nowhere to the viewing audience. Main event was amateur hour with Zorro/Metal/Intocable vs Psicosis/Mosco/Histeria from Japan. Soooooooo many blown spots and stupid attempts at wrestling. Heavy Metal was easily the worst thing in this match and I can't believe he is doing well in CMLL if this match was any indication. Intocable looked good but that may have only been b/c of the rudos who are good carriers. Really bad match.

5/14 - TAKA/Tiger Imperial/Nozawa vs Juventud/Aguila/Manson was OFF THE CHARTS AWESOME! One of my favorite AAA TV matches of the year so far, maybe only trailing the Barrios/Black Family matches. Don't see how anyone could have NOT liked this one. Juventud's slingshot frankensteiner to the floor through the ropes was beautiful. They let these guys work a straight match and they came through. Good show by everyone and I can't wait to rewatch. Some six women's tag match followed and couldn't touch the previous match. La Diabolica made her debut here. She looked worse than the last time I saw her on TV but then again that was in 2001 or 2002 for IWRG and before that was 1997 in CMLL so hard to judge fairly. Octagon/Zorro/Intocable vs Haytor/Manson/Aguila was a heated brawl with some okay moments. Gronda/Lover/Parka Jr. for a bit...then T.D. vs Abismo/Psic/Tinieblas Jr. was mostly just an angle rather than a match. It's a shame AAA has some good matches like the opener but the rest of the shows ends up being such crap that nobody gets to even see the good stuff b/c it's not worth the time and money to pick the show up.

5/21 - The same women's match to open up the show but this one was MUCH better than the previous week. Lots of good work by everyone and a dive sequence to end the match. Best AAA women's match I've seen since the Brujas vs Morenos series from 1999/2000. Not even going to bother with the kickboxing fiasco. Zorro/Intocable/Anibal Jr. vs Aguila/Haytor/Tinieblas Jr. was... AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I seriously loved this match to death. An awesome brawl right from the start followed by some nice in-ring work and a great long finish. The jump must have motivated Anibal Jr. as he was working hard and showed intensity I had never seen from him before. Tinieblas Jr. continued to rule it as a rudo here. Good job advancing storylines in this too as Zorro got revenge for being a power bombed through a table a few weeks ago by doing the same to Haytor during the match. The finish saw Aguila go for a pescado but he got and throws backwards into the crowd! Major pop... from me of course.Smile Anibal Jr. and Tinieblas Jr. then went at it and Tinieblas' mask came off so he covered his face while throwing the mask back and forth as nobody wanted to be caught with it! Finally Tinieblas put it back on but realized he was stuck in the ring with three tecnicos and he got pummeled and pinned. Fantastic stuff from everyone. Not the type of match you'd ever seen in CMLL but worked perfect for AAA. The Rey De Reyes main event was the biggest clusterfuck ever. Nothing made sense and it was so mind numbing that I didn't even give a shit when Nicho and Psicosis started brawling. Someone tell Arturo Rivera that he's on television and even if an angle isn't going as planned(the cell phone), you don't shrug, laugh and refuse to continue doing the angle. The entire match was based on that blown angle too which added to the stupidity. Why did Cibernetico make a big entrance in a match he wasn't involved in and why were the fans cheering for him even though he ended up costing Latin Lover the match? Did anyone end up winning this thing? The entire match, at least to me, seemed like a Konnan booked clusterfuck except unlike the past in TJ circa '96, he didn't have the workers who were willing to do crazy spots to distract from the rest of the mess. The one good thing about this match was reading cubsfan's review and seeing him try to make sense of it all. So in that case, ***** match.

Woooooo, that was a mixed bad of stuff. I still love AAA so it's all good.Very Happy
